I know it’s been a while. I have actually done some projects. Now it’s all about getting the pictures for you to see!!
I have recently completed Simplicity 8513, the bodysuit.
I was actually going through you tube one day and found Brittney J Jones (sewing) and seen that she had did video posts for one bodysuit a day. The pattern has 5 different views:
I watched all 5 of her videos and thought how easy, I can do that quickly. I have been trying to look for quick projects lately:)
I chose view B the bell sleeves and higher neckline. I have not done anything with bell sleeves and thought I would give it a try.
I think in total it only took a couple days to complete.
I took the pattern to work and used my flat portfolio and mini iron to iron out the pattern and cut my size.
I cut a size medium up at top and graded down to an extra large at hips. I also added an inch in length.
I used this fabulous green ponte knit from Fabric Mart and it sewed up like a dream. So steady didn’t slide and was easy to work with.
But it doesn’t have as much stretch as a ITY Knit. I should have added one more inch in length due to the lack of stretch. I have a really long torso. So long that it is impossible to find a one piece bathing suit. That is on my list to make.
The bodysuit was really easy. Sew the shoulders, sides, and then arms. Sew on elastic, crotch lining and snaps.
here I finally wore it today!!!
I don’t usually wear tops tucked in, so this is a little out of my comfort zone.
Not sure if I am ready to do another as not sure how often I will wear this. But one day, would like to give it another go.
For now, I am working on the Blackwood Cardigan from Helen’s Closet and let me tell you I am in love.
I think I have finally found my TNT pattern!!!!
Okay, more about that later!
